About Baltit Fort

The impressive 700 year old Baltit Fort located at the top of the town of Karimabad was built to protect Hunza from outside forces and to ensure the survival of feudal regimes. After an extensive restoration project by the Aga Khan Cultural Services, Pakistan in 1996 the majestic Fort is now run by the Baltit Fort Trust as a museum and culture centre with research facilities as well as lecture & meeting rooms.

Visitors to Baltit Fort can revel in the history of Hunza and can also enjoy a light lunch and refreshments at the Baltit Fort Cafe.

Baltit Fort Museum is open from 9.30am to 5.30pm, 7 days a week.
